Course Overview
This one-day Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM) Renewal Course, accredited by Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA), is specifically designed for experienced traffic management professionals who are due to renew their existing AWTM accreditation.
The course ensures participants stay up to date with the latest requirements, regulations, industry changes, planning standards, and practices. These are required for the design and endorsement of Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs).
This course is taught in person at our training center in Welshpool. It reviews recent changes as applicable including: including the MRWA Traffic Management for Works on Roads CODE OF PRACTICE, Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (AGTTM) and AS1742.3 Part 3 – 2019 etc. This Advanced Worksite Traffic Management Renewal course also provides a practical review of real-world traffic planning scenarios and documentation to ensure continued compliance with MRWA requirements.

Accreditation & Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive:
- A Main Roads WA AWTM Certificate
- A new MRWA photo ID Accreditation Card, valid for 3 years
Certificates are typically issued within three working days for Perth Metro participants. Regional attendees should allow additional time for delivery.
Note: This Advanced Worksite Traffic Management renewal course is not nationally accredited but meets all MRWA re-accreditation requirements.
Pre-Course Requirements
To enrol in the AWTM Renewal course participants must also provide proof of the following at least five working days before attending:
- Complete a course suitability checklist for this course including Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills as applicable.
Proof of Competency – Copies of nationally recognised Statements of Attainment or Authenticated Transcripts (from the USI portal) for:
- RIICWD503E Prepare traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes
- RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process
- (Or equivalent units of competency)
MRWA Requirements:
- Hold or have held Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation or Statement of Attainment in RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans (or equivalent unit of competency)
- Valid White Card or Blue Card for general construction induction (White Card training is available through Kelyn Training Services)
Worksite Evidence (Effective 1/8/2021):
Evidence of at least three TMPs that the applicant has personally prepared, endorsed, or approved, which have been implemented on actual worksites. Each example must include:
- Date of implementation
- Site address
- Description of works
- TMP reference number
- Supervisor or contractor contact details
This information must be verifiable.
- In addition, evidence is required for trainer assessment.

How long is my MRWA Traffic Management Accreditation valid for?
Your MRWA Traffic Management Accreditation is valid for three (3) years from the date of issue.
After the 3-year period you must complete a re-accreditation/renewal course. Should your card have expired over 3 months ago you will need to undertake the full course.
I have lost my White Card how can I have it replaced?
If you have lost your White Card and completed your training with Kelyn Training Services, please contact us. We can issue a replacement White Card, provided your original card is still valid. A replacement fee of $50.00 applies and must be paid at the time of application.
I have Traffic Management Accreditation from another State. Can I have it recognised in Western Australia?
If you hold Temporary Traffic Management Accreditation from another state, please contact us and provide evidence of your accreditation, along with the Statement of Attainment issued by the relevant Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or Authorised Body. Once received, we will review your documentation and advise you on the most appropriate next steps.
I hold Traffic Management Implementer (TMI) obtained from another State. What is the equivalent accreditation in Western Australia?
